Main itinerary for the day
~ SNORKELING!!!
Up bright & early for
the day, we had light breakfast of….. guess what?.....7-Eleven buns (^-^) cos’ we don’t want to end up
throwing-up sea-sick. By 7.50am we were
in the van on the way to the pier which was actually quite a long ride. We were
booked on the Sea Angel speedboat Tour.
Being high season, the
pier was packed. On arrival we were divided into groups using different colored
sticker badges.
We boarded the speedboat
after a short safety briefing. The boat
was very much bigger than expected, very comfortable and was able to board
around 50pax. There were tourists from different nationalities ~ France,
Germany, Belgium, Middle East, India, Australia & many more.
Off we go!!
Our first destination was
the Phi-Phi Lay Islands, landing at the beautiful & unique Maya Bay, where
the movie “The Beach” was filmed. Beautiful as the beach was, the sun made the
sands scorching hot. The bay was lined with speedboats from one end to the other;
the view would have been so much nicer if it was not so packed.
Landing on
Maya Bay
Our 5 engine speed boat
The sea water feels so cool at our feet
whereas the beach sand was so hot
Then it’s back on the boat
again for our next destination ~ Loh Samah Bay for snorkeling.
Everyone (well almost) ready with their
snorkeling gears waiting to get into the waters
My girls getting ready to jump into the
waters
And down they go! Hanging on to their
father, so happens to be the only person who can swim…hehehe
There were about 7-8 boats around the
area for snorkeling. The sea was ‘littered’ with people =P
Feeding fishes near Viking Cave
Arriving at Viking cave for sightseeing
The view heading towards Monkey Beach
Monkey beach
This is just a small cove
just to feed monkeys. There was nothing much interesting to see there though;
so our stop was just for around 15 mins or so.
Our lunch stop was at
Phi-Phi Don at a beachside restaurant which was included in our itinerary.
Phi Phi Don
Landing on the beach of Phi Phi Don for
lunch break
The environment was great
& lunch was served buffet style with quite a variety of foods served.
The buffet bar
*Tadaaa!* Our lunch ~ Spaghetti, fried
chicken, sweet & sour fish, Mix vegetables etc
We shared table with this
French guy who graciously helped us take this
shot…
Some scenes around Phi Phi
Don
After an hour beak for lunch,
it was once again out to the seas heading to Khai Island or Egg Island as it is
mostly called by the locals. The trip took us a while; I did not bring my watch
so I could only guess it was about slightly less than an hour to reach Khai
Island. This will be out last
destination for today. Most of us dozed
off after our filling lunch, even our guide “Ms Jeniffer”
All the sleepy heads were
woken up by loud music upon reaching Khai Island, guess this is their way for
‘wake-up call’…lol
“Ms Jeniffer” lead us to
an area pre-booked by Sea Angel Tours where a small table was set up serving
free local fruits of watermelon, pineapple & a free flow of mineral water
& drinks. And for, a small fee of 80Bht we rented 2 chairs under a big
beach umbrella for relaxing & shade from the hot afternoon sun. There were
5 of us squeezing under the big umbrella & a nice Thai chap came up &
gestured us to take up the next empty chair which we smiled & graciously
declined, until he said…”Free” – So nice of him (^-^)
Having some fun on the beach!!
The beautiful Khai Island….
Varieties of stalls & seafood
selling around the island
Our one and a half hours
on Khai Island seem to pass too quickly. From a near distance we heard our ‘Ms
Jeniffer’ doing ‘her’ signature call…… “No.5…No.5..Darlings come, come..time
already”. So if you are wondering, our boat is Sea Angel No.5..hahahaha
Introducing, our Lady-Boy
host of Sea Angel Speedboat….Ms Jeniffer…….
Ms Jeniffer is one hell of
an amazing person, he (or should I say she) is really entertaining & he
gave us his very own version of a sexy (but of course fully clothed) pole dance performance as a closure for our
trip which got the whole crowd laughing & cheering away d(^-^)b
All of us were flat tired
when we reached our hotel, it was already close to 6pm. We refreshed ourselves & took a much
needed nap before going out for dinner.
Tonight’s dinner was at Yo Yo Restaurant which was only a short walking
distance from our hotel.
The wide variety of fresh seafood at Yo
Yo Restaurant
Steam crabs, deep fried giant squid,
fried asparagus with fresh mushrooms & the typical Thai sauces
Lime Juice, Coconut shake & local
dessert
Food was great!
So was the bill that came
to 1510Bht ~must be due to the high season, as my friend who recommended me
this place says Yo Yo Restaurant has the cheapest seafood in town. Her party of
four ordered crabs, steamed fish, tomyam, mussels for just slightly over 1400Bht.
Some of the seafood sold in restaurants
along the streets of Patong
Not wanting to miss the Banzaan Night market again tonight, we headed there
once again immediately after dinner. The
place tonight was at full swing…shops & stalls were all open for the
night. My girls got a good bargain for
their swimsuits. What amazed me was the
varieties of skewered foods – mainly pork & seafood, which of course is a
must try!!
You can even get fresh
seafood at one of the stalls…too bad we were still full from dinner & had
bought a lot of other street food for supper =(
Then we headed to the
hottest night spot in Patong ~ Bangla Road If you don’t go to Bangla Road, then
you haven’t completely seen Patong! The
whole street is alive with music from the many pubs, bars & nightclubs. The
street & bars was packed …mostly with ‘Mat Sallehs’
Ok this must be one of the
most interesting banner & I’m sure the most photographed in Bangla Road ~~~
“Husband Day Care Centre”….so, do you dare to leave your husband there??
Hahahaha
Can you imagine finding a shop selling
these items in Bangla Road?
A place to massage away your aches &
pains ~ plenty along Patong Beach
We came across this stall
along Patong Beach as we were searching for Simon Cabaret
Mango Pancake Crepe(100Bht) & Banana
Pancake Crepe with Caramel Sauce (50Bht)
The Mango Crepe was a bit
pricey but it was filled with almost a whole mango. Both had its own unique
taste ~ crispy on the outside & sweet on the inside *yummy*
It started to drizzle
after that, so we decided to head back as Simon Cabaret was still nowhere in
sight. We only had two umbrellas &
there were 5 of us, so I was practically ‘jogging’ my way back..lol
Lucky for me the rain
stopped as we reached Bangla Road. Despite the rain, the crowd didn’t seem to
budge.
Saw these beautiful girls
(I think) out on the streets giving out flyers & encouraging men to take
photos with them (for a price I’m sure). Possibly from Simon Cabaret?
Exhausted & afraid
that it would start to rain again, we decided to head on back to our hotel for
our “supper” of BBQ skewers & Mango Rice from the night market & call
it a night.
Tomorrow will be a free
day with the PHUKET
FANTASEA show at night; so it will be a EXPLORING & SHOPPING DAY!! \(^-^)/
